JOHN HERNRIED, MD, FACP
Dr. John D. Hernried is the President and Medical Director of The Hernried Center for Medical Weight Loss in Sacramento, California. Dr. Hernried brings to The Hernried Center both a deep, abiding interest and extensive clinical experience in the treatment of obesity.
Board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, he is also a member of the Obesity Society and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Hernried has directed weight loss programs for area hospitals, and serves as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine, University of California, Davis. He is also a well-known area lecturer on new scientific and clinical advances in obesity.
He has been listed as a “Top Doctor” in Sacramento Magazine, Solano Magazine, and The Davis Enterprise. Dr. Hernried is a graduate of Texas Tech School of Medicine, and did his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis. He has been Medical Director at The Hernried Center since 1999, while also practicing internal medicine at Sutter West Medical Group (1994-1999) and most recently at Kaiser Permanente.
Dr. Hernried joined The Hernried Center full-time, in 2005, in order to dedicate himself to the practice of bariatric medicine.
CHRISTOPHER CASE, MD
Dr. Christopher Case is a board-certified endocrinologist in Jefferson City, Missouri, practicing at Jefferson City Medical Group. He received his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine; completed his residency at St. Louis University; and did his fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
As an endocrinologist, Dr. Case cares for patients with diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, cholesterol disorders, and diseases of the thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands. During his fellowship he concentrated on obesity, weight loss, metabolic syndrome, and new developments in cardiovascular disease prevention. He also has an interest in clinical research as part of patient care.
PETER H. JONES, MD, FACP, FNLA
Dr. Peter Howard Jones is the Medical Director for the Weight Management Center at Houston Methodist Hospital, and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, at the Baylor College of Medicine. He also serves as co-director of the Lipid Metabolism and Atherosclerosis Clinic.
He earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, completed his internship and residency at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals, and was Chief Medical Resident at Ben Taub General Hospital, also in Houston.
Dr. Jones is board certified in Internal Medicine and by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology.
PHILLIP SNIDER, DO, MS, RD
Dr. Phillip Snider is the Medical Director of the Bon Secours Weight Loss Institute in Norfolk, Virginia. He is board certified in family medicine, and received his medical degree and fellowship training from Midwestern University at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. He completed his residency with Scottsdale Healthcare in Scottsdale, Arizona and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association.
Prior to medical school, he was a personal trainer and a dietitian for 10 years, and he is certified as a bariatrician by the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
In addition to Dr. Snider’s clinical roles at Bon Secours, he is the Medical Director of the Bon Secours Weight Loss Institute and the Medial Director of Ambulatory Informatics for the Bon Secours Virginia Medical Group.
VALERIE SUTHERLAND, MD
Valerie Hope Slocum Sutherland, MD, is founder, CEO and CMO of Rainier Medical Weight Loss and Wellness in Tacoma, Washington. Dr. Sutherland opened the first Rainier Medical clinic in 2015 and has grown the company to include 23 employees working out of four clinics and most recently an exercise science/ fitness studio, all dedicated to combating obesity. Dr. Sutherland graduated from the combined BS-MD program at the University of Southern California in 2002, having been accepted into the program at the age of 16. She performed her internship and residency in internal medicine at George Washington University in 2005. After working as a primary care provider for 10 years she decided to leave primary care to start Rainier Medical which has quickly become the premier obesity medical practice in the Pacific Northwest.
