S.T.A.R.
Steps To Avoid Regain®
Many plans have been developed to help people lose weight, but comparatively little attention has been given to maintaining weight loss.
Recidivism is a common issue for many dieters and research demonstrates that dieters who follow a structured weight loss program can regain 75%
or more of their lost weight. We believe one reason for this is the lack of a creative, supportive weight maintenance plan at the end of weight loss.
Practicing weight maintenance is what prepares the successful dieter for long term weight management. That is why we’ve incorporated the S.T.A.R.
Plan — Steps To Avoid Regain — into our core program offerings to provide added tools that will help your dieters develop permanent lifestyle changes.
Through our work with an expert panel of researchers and experienced professionals (see Acknowledgements),
it was concluded that weight maintenance requires a distinctly different mindset than weight loss. The Robard S.T.A.R. Plan is the outcome of
more than two years of research and development (See S.T.A.R. Overview). Key elements of the plan:
- A Map of the S.T.A.R.s helps you guide clients through their two year commitment to the plan.
- Three weight management zones will guide dieters in maintaining their weight or raise flags on when they need to refocus and modify their behaviors.
- An extensive series of worksheets provide strategies to improve dieter comprehension and motivation.
